■ Introduction

A Metal Staircase Co first and possibly one of the most exciting projects to date. Our clients Happy Electron were creating a new cutting edge testing facility and they wanted the office space to be sympathetic to the environment. They opted for a the clean lines of the Carbon design to be paired with a perforated steel balustrade. It was a key part of our criteria to ensure the perforated balustrade was fabricated in a way that was free of welds and as creative in construction as it is design.

■ The Challenge

The staircase needed to act as an inspiring focal point within a commercial cafeteria setting, while also meeting the demands of a high floor-to-floor height and commercial performance standards. Integrating practical under-stair storage without compromising the overall design added further complexity.

■ The Solution

A robust steel structure with increased section thickness was developed. The staircase incorporates discreet under-stair storage and is defined by a bespoke perforated panel balustrade. Developed using hidden slot-and-tab connections, the balustrade achieves a clean, weld-free appearance, resulting in a staircase that balances durability, function, and visual impact.
